WIOA Workshop

Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act

What is the WIOA Workshop? In order to be on the WIOA program you must attend a WIOA Workshop (which explains the program), and the steps required to be accepted on the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act Program. You will need an up-to-date resume. You must complete an interest and aptitude assessment. You will then need to complete two forms, which are given to you at the Workshop. The assessment and resume can be completed early. We can assist you with creating a resume.

If you are interested in WIOA training funds, you can CLICK HERE TO COMPLETE THE WIOA APPLICATION online and email it directly to OhioMeansJobs Jefferson County.

Following the completion of the above online WIOA Application, you will be contacted by a WIOA representative who will reserve a spot for you at the next available Workshop.

The WIOA Program has two levels of Service:
Career Services including self-assisted services available to the universal customer, and Individualized Career Services including staff-assisted, non-training services deemed necessary for an adult or a dislocated worker to obtain or retain employment. These career services include: Job search, access to labor market information, assessment of skill levels, aptitudes, abilities, and supportive service needs, career counseling, placement assistance, and the provision of referrals.

Training Services are available in areas of both short or long-term training. Training opportunities must be included on the State of Ohio approved vendors’ list for the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act, with training of up to two academic years possible.
