JOB TITLE: INTAKE WORKER
DEPARTMENT: HEAP/LIHWAP/PIPP
REPORTS TO: Director

EXEMPT: NO
SALARY LEVEL: $14.00 – $15.33 per hour
SHIFT: Monday-Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm

LOCATION: CAC

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
The below statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by a person in this position. They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all duties that may be performed in such a position.

Performs comprehensive intake, documentation verification and review and eligibility determination for clients applying for energy assistance programs.

Contacts vendors to verify account details and make payment pledges and other arrangements based on program guidelines.

Maintains client files, both paper and electronic data entry. Includes processing incomplete files and handling file reviews and corrections, as needed.

Duties may include home visits and rotation to satellite offices as needed.

Provide basic client referrals to other agency/community programs as needed.

Completes all processes required by the agency and grant funding source.

Complete other duties as assigned by Program Director, CEO and/or Agency Administration.

EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS
The qualifications listed below are guidelines for selection purposes; alternative qualifications may be substituted if there is a sufficient combination of Education and/or Experience to perform the Essential Duties/Responsibilities.

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:
A minimum of one year experience working in a customer service and/or direct social service environment.

Knowledge, Skills and Ability:
A thorough knowledge of, and/or the ability to read, interpret, and consistently apply Program Guidelines/Regulations, Personnel Policies and Procedures, standards, laws and other compliance mandates.

This position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills. Candidate must possess the ability to develop positive relationships with clients, vendors and community partners; relate well with others, being empathic and supportive with clients; work both independently and as part of our local community social service network to effectively and efficiently resolve crisis situations.

Proficient in the operation of computers, software, email, and other office equipment including, but not limited to, telephone, fax machine, copier, scanner or any other equipment necessary to complete the essential duties of the position.

Additional Requirements:
Present a positive image of the agency to members of the community.

Must possess a valid driver license and reliable transportation.

Submit to and pass a background check.

Completion of required trainings.

Excellent attendance record and a sincere desire for the successful operation of the program is a must.
