GRIT: (Growing Rural Independence Together) is the flagship project under Future Plans, a non-profit organization dedicated to boosting economic growth in the Appalachian Region through in-demand workforce development programs. It can be used for both youth and adult clients. GRIT funds can be utilized much like WIOA funds, ie. work experience, supportive services. The CAC is utilizing the GRIT Project to help serve re-entry clients; offering work experience to help these clients begin to acclimate and build the needed items to be back in society.
The GRIT Project offers both assessment and career coaching as a foundational structure to success. The assessment identifies personal interests, abilities and work values and uses those results to match clients with suitable job opportunities. The coaching is a one-time meeting with a certified coach that will review the client’s assessment and guide future exploration in training and work opportunities that best match each client.
